About Me
To Max, the heart of creativity is community. Every project is an opportunity to bring people together, creating something greater than the sum of its parts. Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, Max von Kolnitz is an actor, writer, creative, and recent graduate of Ithaca College’s renowned School of Music, Theatre, and Dance with a BFA in Acting.
Max's artistic journey has taken him from regional theatres along the East Coast to self-produced original works in Northern Virginia. At Ithaca College, he expanded his craft further by starring in several student films and taking on a variety of compelling stage roles.
Among Max's proudest accomplishments is his participation in Ithaca College’s pioneering collaboration with The Kitchen Theatre, where he played Dorante in David Ives’ The Liar and Davis Jr. in Aaron Jameison Roberts' new work The Pass. Other notable credits include the stage adaptation of Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist and Caridad Svich’s red bike. Additionally, Max has collaborated with the IC MTD Collaboratory, devising original pieces as part of an ensemble of innovative actors.
Beyond the stage, Max is deeply passionate about fostering creativity and building connections. He has collaborated with studios in Virginia to develop and produce original, full-length productions, bringing ideas from the page to performance.
Currently, Max is deep into rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof at Signature Theatre in Shirlington, Virginia, where he is Assistant Director to Joe Calarco.
